The battery life on the Nokia Lumia 800 has been much criticized ever since the phone launched four months ago. Since then Nokia has released a couple of updates for the device aiming to improve the battery life but they didn’t really help, with the last update merely dimming the display instead of providing any real improvement to the battery life.

According to WPCentral the new update provides up to three times the battery life compared to before, although they did not mention three times of what type of particular usage.

Besides the other improvements we already listed, one particular new change caught our attention. The update is supposed to bring an increase in bass response to improve the audio quality.

That’s interesting because if you read our Lumia 800 review, we specifically mentioned the poor bass response of the device when it is connected to a pair of headphones.

If you have received this update, do let us know what improvements you are seeing, especially to the battery life of the phone.

Asus: Original Transformer Android 4.0 Update Now Coming in March

By

ASUS Transformer

It looks like Asus may have over promised when it said Ice Cream Sandwich would be hitting the original Transformer in early February. In fact, owners may have to wait as long as March, as Asus made a statement on its Singapore Facebook page saying the Android update is being pushed back, although no reasons were given. The Transformer Prime previously received Android 4.0 treatment, although TechnoBuffalo saw mixed results.

Here’s the statement in full from Asus:

Dear fellow Asus members, we would like to say that we appreciate all the support we see in our Asus Facebook page every day. It makes our contributions worthwhile and fulfilling.

We are informed that the ICS upgrade for TF101 will be ready within the Feb/March 2012 period. You will be able to receive the upgrade notification via FOTA once we have a confirmation date.

We thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter

It’s frustrating news for Transformer owners patiently waiting to experience Ice Cream Sandwich, but if a delay is what it takes to get a compatible, bug-free port, then an extra few weeks wait won’t sting too much. Hopefully this time Asus will hit its predicted timeframe, though.
