MWC gave us a lot to look forward to, with a new family of HTC devices alongside the first range of smartphones brandishing the Sony name and now these delights are making their way to carriers across the globe.

O2 UK recently updated their website’s ‘Coming Soon’ section to include the likes of HTC’s One X, S and V, the two new smaller Sony NXT series phones, the Xperia P and the Xperia U, the Samsung Galaxy S Advance and two members of Nokia’s Symbian running Asha phones, the 201 and 302.

All of these devices are currently slated for an April launch so consumers don’t have long to wait to get their hands on some of the hottest handsets in 2012, but for those of you who simply can’t hang on that long, Sony have already unleashed their latest flagship device, the Xperia S, offering a refined Android experience designed to act as the new face of Sony Mobile Communications.

Rumors continue to pile up as to when we’ll see the Samsung Galaxy S III launch, but it appears a source that should definitely be in the know is now pegging it for April.

Speaking with Samsung’s marketing and advertising agency Cheil WorldwideZDNet Korea has learned that the agency is preparing for an April debut of the Galaxy S III.  Apparently the big push is going to be in the U.K., one of the launch territories for the follow-up to the ultra-popular Galaxy S II line.  This is partially planned due to the impending Summer 2012 Olympics to be held in and around London, giving them the perfect opportunity to raise awareness for the phone with people from all over the world.

Samsung Galaxy S III back

When we learned that the phone would not debut at Mobile World Congress, the only hint we were given to a launch date was there would be a dedicated press event in the first half of the year.  Well, April falls in that time frame, and it also happens to line up with another rumor we heard back in January.  Perhaps April truly will be when this highly anticipated phone will finally see its big debut.

The winner for one last category of the Global Mobile Awards – the Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet at Mobile World Congress 2012 award – was left to be announced and looking at the photo of smiling Nokia execs makes it easy to guess which device took that award home.

The Nokia 808 PureView, which arguably caused the biggest splash with its 41MP camera sensor, was voted worthy of the award by a panel of journalists and analysts attending the show.

Here’s what Jo Harlow, Executive Vice President of smart devices at Nokia, had to say about the award:

It’s a fantastic award because it signifies that consumer experience counts. It’s about tech, but it’s about how tech is used to make a consumer have a fantastic experience. The imaging is fantastic; the audio is fantastic; the navigation technology is fantastic.

These are first signals that we are executing against our strategy. That we’re back. That we’re bringing great products to our consumers – and that this is just the beginning. There’s lot more to come.

We have a lot of work ahead of us. We’re still a challenger, and we are going to operate as we have done in this last year to deliver these great results.

HTC Endeavor (HTC Edge) Specs Appear In Leaked ROM

By Killian Bell on February 13, 2012 in HTC

The HTC Edge first leaked back in November, and was rumored to be the Taiwanese company’s first Tegra 3 quad-core smartphone. Just a couple of days ago, we discovered that its name was changed to the HTC Endeavor internally, and now we have the device’s internal specifications, thanks to a leaked ROM.

As expected, the device will be a flagship handset packing an NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip, according toPocketNow, with a 720p display, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

The ROM, which was posted to the XDA Developers forums, also reveals that the Endeavor will offer Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. But its most exciting features include the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich and the HTC Sense 4.0 user interface.
That’s right, not only will the Endeavor — which is believed to be its real retail name — be HTC’s first quad-core smartphone, but it’ll also be one of the first to ship with Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.

Now, I know you’re itching to know when the device will arrive. Rumor has it that the Endeavor will show its face at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month. So you’ll be pleased to know that there isn’t long to wait.

I think the HTC Endeavor sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic Android device, but what do you think?

Image of Motorola’s First Intel-powered Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Phone Leaked

Motorola Intel Android ICS

During the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year, Intel announced that it was partnering with Motorola Mobility to launch the first Intel-powered smartphones. Now, a leaked image fromPocketnow suggests that Motorola Mobility not only has an Intel-powered smartphone in the works, but also one powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The device will no doubt be important for both companies. Motorola Mobility has yet to launch an Android Ice Cream Sandwich device and Intel desperately wants to gain share in a mobile market dominated by Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Samsung, Texas Instruments, ARM and others.

So far, we’re digging the thin design and the metal accents even though the phone looks a bit similar to the Motorola DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX, save for the touch-sensitive buttons at the bottom of the display. Unfortunately, the device still doesn’t have a name and it’s unclear what kind of specs it will offer. It is possible we will hear more during Mobile World Congress later this month but we have a feeling that might be too soon for an announcement.

LG Optimus 3D 2 photo surfaces, some specs in tow

The LG Optimus 3D was the star on the LG booth on last year’s MWC and it appears its successor will be the key announcement this year. We just got the first photo of the LG Optimus 3D 2 and it’s even garnished with some specs.

The LG Optimus 3D 2 will, reportedly, be using a higher resolution IPS screen than its predecessor. Given that this will be the company’s next flagship, we are almost certain that it will feature the HD AH-IPS display we know from the LG Optimus LTE.

The Optimus 3D 2 is also said to be considerably slimmer than its predecessor at 9.8mm and at least 20 g lighter. Given that its chubby body was one of the main issues with the original Optimus 3D, this can only be good news for the LG Optimus 3D 2.

The MWC kicks off in exactly two weeks, so we should soon find out if those rumors are true soon enough.
